The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 112-year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of approximately $58 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages 800,000 guests each year, Playland amusement park which welcomes 375,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, year-round events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. The PNE Agriculture department operates a 5 day 4-H Festival, a 15 day Farm Country pavilion and a 12 day horse show demonstration and competition. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Entry Office Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the agriculture entry office staff, data processing, as well as providing excellent customer service to exhibitors and guests.
We are seeking an organized and guest service-focused individual that has a passion for Agriculture, the Events Industry and the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE.) Our ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of agriculture, livestock competitions and considerable experience with MS Office Suite and other databases. They will work in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies.

What will you do this year?
In your role as an
Office Supervisor – Agriculture you will:
Oversee the Agriculture Office reception team, answer the telephone and handle enquiries.
Supervise the agriculture entry office staff and manage task list; ensuring that documents are prepared and data entry is completed by the assigned deadline(s).
Oversee the inputting of entries and results into a computer system for the Horse Show and 4-H competitors.
Coordinate the preparation and delivery of documents and supplies for livestock shows.
Work closely with Agriculture management to facilitate exhibitor check-ins, payments and preparing judge documents.
Provide customer service to Fairtime exhibitors.
Perform general office work and other related duties as required.
Oversee the organization of all special event entries
With your team prepare and organize all prizing for the events in the Agrodome and Barns
Must have successful completion of Grade 12.
Post-secondary course work or training in office and computer skills, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Knowledge of agriculture and previous livestock competition experience is preferred.
Must have advanced proficiency in computer applications including but not limited to MS Office Suite (Word Perfect/Word/Excel).
Previous experience working in an agricultural environment is preferred.
Working knowledge of data base type-entering systems is an asset.
Knowledge of basic office equipment – fax and photocopier.
Must have a keen attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to assist exhibitors and fellow staff in a congenial and friendly manner.
Ability to manage a diverse workload under pressure and perform assigned tasks within expected deadlines.
Ability to function with some independence, manage a task list and delegate work to staff.
Ability to deal with confidential matters and use discretion.
Ability and willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, during the PNE Fair from August 20th – September 7th.
